Tack Welder - SG

Alvarado, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Tack welds and/or finish welds to required production levels.
  • Reads and interprets drawings and specifications to determine proper location of attachments, as well as weld size and configuration
  • Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals
  • Uses oxy-fuel torch to pre-heat parts to be welded in accordance with published welding codes and specifications
  • Uses GMAC or FCAW welding process to weld small components or assemblies
  • Works in confined areas at various locations on the small pole assembly line as necessary to weld components
  • Uses chipping hammer, wire brush, motorized grinders, and motorized wire brush at various times to clean welded areas
  • Uses pneumatic drills and magnetic drills to drill carious size holes on pole assembly as required by drawings and specifications
  • Uses a weld gauge to measure weld size
  • Reads and interprets work orders and daily production schedules
  • Assists fitters in assembly as needed
  • Uses measuring tape, level, square, and angle finder to measure distances and anglesUses oxy-fuel cutting torch and plasma-arc torch to cut steel
  • Uses oxy-fuel cutting torch and plasma-arc torch to cut steel
  • Assembles products by competently and safely operating hand tools such as torches, grinders and weld machines.
  • Inspects weld surfaces for dirt, rust & flaws prior to welding.
  • Understands how to read and understand a tape measure to layout parts for welding.
  • Follows assigned work instructions to prepare items for welding.
  • Understands how to log in and out of, and proficiently uses, the Epicor ERP system to record work completed on jobs.
  • Uses overhead cranes and/or gantries to transport and move material.
  • Keeps assigned work area clean and organized at all times, and assists with keeping other work areas clean and organized.
  • Contributes to a safe working environment by being responsible for quality, safety, organization and cleanliness in area of operation.
  • Contributes to team effort by communicating and working well with others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • 1+ years recent experience in a welding environment preferred.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials.
  • Must be able to stand 100% of scheduled shift. Lifting, pushing, prying, and dragging heavy materials up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, including but not limited to noisy, dusty and varying temperatures.
  • Overtime may be required, including working on the weekends.
  • Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual.
  • Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures.
  • Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources.
  • GMAW or Metal Core welding experience preferred
  • Mathematical aptitude a plus

  • Monday - Friday, 7a - 3:30p. Overtime may be required including some weekend shifts.



Kettle Lead - GAVLANIZING

Alvarado, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all galvanized products meet Sabre quality requirements and promote efficiency and uptime.
  • Minimize downtime and delays with efficient processing and employee direction.
  • Add zinc and other alloys to the kettle and pre-treat in order to maintain proper levels and proper quality of product.
  • Inspect all lifting equipment prior to use (forklifts, cranes, monorails, chains, slings, etc).
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Must use good judgment, follow instructions and have good problem solving abilities.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong ability to multi-task.
  • Train and assess employees' competencies in the Skill-Based Pay process.

  • Dross kettle (remove sludge) on a pre-determined schedule according to Sabre guidelines.
  • Maintain safe and efficient kettle temperatures and kettle zinc levels at all times.
  • Enforce established housekeeping standards.
  • Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Management.
  • Ability to oversee the production of 20 employees and manage job orders while completing tasks promptly

Drafter - AutoCAD

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Creates and checks drawings for all aspects of the towers and associated components
  • Creates Bills of Material for each job.
  • Creates fabrication drawings for non-standard parts.
  • Troubleshoots production and field issues.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:
  • 1-2 years recent experience in Drafting desired. Will consider recent college graduate.
  • Basic understanding of drafting principles.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; Experience with Inventor or AutoCAD 3-D is preferred, but not required.

Tack Welder - Part-Time

Machine Operator, Angle

Responsibilities:
  • Determines the sequence of operation by reading the shop drawings, specifications (if supplied) and all work orders.
  • Cuts, lays out, punches, bends, drills or stamps materials as detailed on the shop drawings with minimal operator defects.
  • Changes or replaces tooling and/or consumables on the machines as needed.
  • Uses proper setting technique of the machines to avoid damage to the machines.
  • Accurately reads and understand a tape measure to 1/16 inch.
  • Follows assigned work instructions to prepare items to be processed.
  • Logs in & out of the Epicor computer system to report run time and quantities.
  • Loads programs related to nesting summaries into the machines.

Lead / Welder Foreman (Nights)

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and delegates daily tasks to assigned production employees.
  • Efficiently uses the company's computer system to collect labor hours and track process information on each job.
  • Supervises employee duties to ensure Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals are met.
  • Trains production employees as needed.
  • Ensures all daily production cards are filled out properly with the correct cost centers, part numbers, job number, and time worked on parts on MES.
  • Ensures housekeeping is maintained in bay areas.
  • Uses Microsoft Outlook (email) to communicate within and outside of the department.
  • Checks the fit up of each assembly within their area of responsibility.
  • Operates various material handling equipment, to include but not limited to, overhead cranes, forklift, and pallet jacks.
  • Ensures machinery, tools and equipment are in good working order.
  • Assists employees in reading blue prints and interpreting weld symbols.
  • Solves production problems as they arise.
  • Ensures all company policies and procedures are being followed. Also "participate in developing" new policies and procedures as a process of continuous improvement at the direction of management.
  • Provides cross training opportunities to capable/qualified individuals.
  • Assigns work to meet daily priorities, helps to determine if departmental overtime is needed to meet customer ship dates and provides any other assistance as directed by management.
  • Observes and documents employee performance for management.
  • Conducts Daily Safety and Startup meetings as required by Management and the Safety Department.
  • Must ensure all tools are returned to shadow boards at the end of each shift and report and replace any broken or missing tools immediately

Requirements:
  • 3 to 5 years progressive experience in a manufacturing operation.
  • Experience with OSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing of steel or metal fabricated structures.
  • Must learn how to effectively use the Epicor/Vantage computer system to report data, check job schedules, inventory levels, routings, bill of materials, as well as, train new and existing employees
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate construction documents including drawings, specifications and contracts.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and other industry computer applications including a strong understanding of ERP systems and their operations.

Material Handler, Warehouse (Part-Time)

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Moves and stacks materials using a forklift when needed.
  • Performs receiving and pre-ship functions of all types of material. This would include duties such as verifying that part numbers and quantities match the bundling sheets or inbound BOLs.
  • Operates material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensures quality of shipped items by verifying and identifying information and quality/condition of items as well as taking steps necessary to protect items from damage while they are being loaded and transported to vendors and customers.
  • Ensures the material being received and shipped conforms to Sabre's or customer's requirements.
  • Accurately process all required paperwork and documentation for entry in Epicor (ERP system).

Long Seam Welder (Nights)

Responsibilities:
  • Performs visual inspection of the entire length of each seam to identify areas requiring repair.
  • Reads and interprets drawings and/or computer print out "flatsheets" to determine requirement for 100% penetration welds.
  • Grinds and/or air-arc gouges areas as necessary in preparation for welding.
  • Adjusts welding machine to achieve desired results within parameters of established welding procedures.
  • Welds required areas, to obtain 100% penetration, using specified welding process (GMAW, and/or SAW,).
  • Reads and interprets applicable specifications and welding codes and procedures to determine preheat requirements. Uses oxy-fuel heating torch to preheat work specified temperature. Uses instruments provided to measure temperature of the material.
  • Reads and interprets work orders and daily production schedules. Writes entries on daily production log to show work completed.
  • Uses overhead crane to position work in pole-rollers and to move completed poles to designated areas.
  • Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses tables to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
  • Visually inspects his/her work to assure that welds have been completed satisfactorily in accordance with applicable drawings, specifications, and codes.
  • Assists and instructs other welders when needed to overcome deficiencies in quality and/or productivity.
  • Wears protective equipment including safety glasses, insulated welding gloves, leather sleeves, and/or cape, face shield, and welding hood to protect himself from hot metal, arc rays, grinding debris, and other potentially harmful conditions.
  • Inspects end of poles for straightness and squareness of edge cuts. Trims and/or grinds as necessary, in order to leave ends suitable for shipment to customer, or for fit up base plates.
  • Uses power drills to drill and/or ream holes in pole sections as required by drawings.
  • Welds other products in his or her area using either GMAW process.
  • Assembles two piece developments.
  • Determines amperage and voltage settings, feed rate settings, required weld procedures, weld size and amount of penetration required.
  • Grinds and/or cleans seams to ensure the required penetration and necessary UT quality weld.
  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly operator preventive maintenance on seam weld machine.
  • Adjust amperage, voltage, speed rates, and machine pressures constantly throughout the welding process to compensate for variations from the cutting and bending operations and the material variations.

    Adjusts welding machine to achieve desired results within parameters of established welding procedures by changing tips, ceramic cups, and electrodes in plasma torch as needed to achieve

      Long Seam Welder (Days)

      Responsibilities:
      • Performs visual inspection of the entire length of each seam to identify areas requiring repair.
      • Reads and interprets drawings and/or computer print out "flatsheets" to determine requirement for 100% penetration welds.
      • Grinds and/or air-arc gouges areas as necessary in preparation for welding.
      • Adjusts welding machine to achieve desired results within parameters of established welding procedures.
      • Welds required areas, to obtain 100% penetration, using specified welding process (GMAW, and/or SAW,).

      • Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses tables to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
      • Visually inspects his/her work to assure that welds have been completed satisfactorily in accordance with applicable drawings, specifications, and codes.
      • Assists and instructs other welders when needed to overcome deficiencies in quality and/or productivity.
      • Wears protective equipment including safety glasses, insulated welding gloves, leather sleeves, and/or cape, face shield, and welding hood to protect himself from hot metal, arc rays, grinding debris, and other potentially harmful conditions.
      • Inspects end of poles for straightness and squareness of edge cuts. Trims and/or grinds as necessary, in order to leave ends suitable for shipment to customer, or for fit up base plates.
      • Uses power drills to drill and/or ream holes in pole sections as required by drawings.
      • Welds other products in his or her area using either GMAW process.
      • Assembles two piece developments.
      • Determines amperage and voltage settings, feed rate settings, required weld procedures, weld size and amount of penetration required.
      • Grinds and/or cleans seams to ensure the required penetration and necessary UT quality weld.
